Trillions of Worlds, Right Here in Monaco!
A Galactic Weekend in Monaco!
I just wrapped up a fantastic weekend in Monaco (big thanks to Mathieu and Daria!), where I had the awesome opportunity to dive into the work of Serge Brunier, a truly talented scientific photographer. His breathtaking Milky Way shot, titled “Mille milliards de Mondes” (A Trillion Worlds), a massive 72m² print, was on exclusive world premiere display in the Atrium of the Monte-Carlo Casino!

Honestly, I was a bit let down by the quality of that enormous 72m² print. It seemed poorly printed and presented on a loosely stretched canvas, which really didn’t do justice to the incredible effort behind the work itself (we’re talking over 200 hours of exposure time gathered from around the world using a Nikon DSLR, a telephoto lens, and a small guide scope).
However, the ‘scaled-down’ version, about 3m by 80cm, displayed in the same room was absolutely superb – incredibly contrasty and with remarkable sharpness. Now that was a treat!
The rest of the exhibition, featuring about ten frames showcasing the author and his fascinating work, was also really engaging. If you happen to be passing through Monaco before September 13th, definitely swing by and check out this expo – it’s well worth the trip!
