My Deep Sky Setup: An Updated Look!
Level Up! A Complete Overhaul of My Astro Setup
My astrophotography setup just got a complete refresh! First off, I installed a new mount: an EQ8-R, expertly prepped by Pierro Astro. Next, I completely redid all the cabling for the telescopes. I’m now using universal 12V cables, splitters, and triplers, and I’ve started leveraging the integrated USB hubs on the cameras for a much tidier setup. The result is significantly cleaner, and the whole system is much more scalable.
I also swapped out my Seletek Armadillo focus motors for the much more compact ZWO EAF units. My Baader filters were replaced with Astrodon 5nm filters. The LodeStar guide camera also got an upgrade to a newer model: the LodeStar X2. Finally, the Canon 60D on the FS60 was replaced by an ASI 533MC-Pro CMOS camera.
