The Rolling Roof Gets a Motor! (Finally!)

My Observatory Roof is Finally Automated!

Oh man, I’ve wanted to automate the rolling roof of my observatory for ages! And guess what? It’s finally done! No more bugging my dear dad every time I want to observe remotely! I spent a good while pondering the best type of motorization to install. Ultimately, I went with the easy route: a tilting garage door opener kit. You know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s the result… in glorious images!

Now, the observatory roof can be controlled in three different ways: with a push-button inside the observatory, via a radio remote control, and (the best part!) remotely from my home, over the internet!
