Polar Alignment Just Got a Whole Lot Easier: Enter the QHY Polemaster!

Here’s the latest astro gadget I just picked up! The QHY Polemaster and its proprietary software make polar aligning an equatorial mount a breeze, taking just minutes. The camera attaches to the front of your mount and points towards the celestial pole. The software simply guides you through the steps, and that’s it! It’s an absolute joy to use.

I really don’t regret this purchase, even though my mounts are in permanent setups. Checking the polar alignment annually for each mount will be super easy with this little camera. It’ll also be incredibly useful with my little travel mount. Bonus points: the camera comes in a cool metal box:

UPDATE 10/08/2017:

I took advantage of my last trip to the observatory to install a QHY adapter on the EQ8 and check its polar alignment, which I’d set a year ago with PEMPro… The error was relatively small and easy to correct!
