When you’re out under the stars, a good headlamp with both white and red LEDs is an absolute game-changer. It lets you fumble with eyepieces, cables, and other gear without nuking your precious night vision. I’ve personally been quite happy with several models from Energizer.

Here’s a pro-tip though: opt for models that have distinct white and red modes, ideally a simple switch or button press between the two. Trust me, you do not want to be cycling through three different white brightness levels just to get to the red light when you’re trying to find that tiny screw in the dark!
